Super Bowl Ads

Super Bowl Ads

The 2011 Super Bowl ads have been talked a lot by the public but not for the positive. Most of them were confusing and looked like they were put together by students like the Coca-Cola siege ad. With an average of 3 million dollars per 30 seconds, the adverts were viewed in 53.3 million households, with a preliminary 46.0 U.S. [...]

Inspiring typography.

Inspiring typography.

One thing I really can work on in terms of design is my typography. Creating great typography is most of the time seen as an art rather than a science. It is a domain growing stronger and stronger by the year and has proven to be a very effective tool when used wisely. There are close to no [...]

“Spoonachos” practical chips design improvement!

"Spoonachos" practical chips design improvement!

And here’s another idea I wonder why no-one had thought about earlier. Invented by the young designer Denis Bostandzic, as the name suggests, the Spoonachos are Mexican chips shaped like little spoons. A simple but clever design improvement which would make guacamole and spicy sauces dipping a lot more efficient and safe! The concept is still in development stage but [...]

Scott’s collection of the best film clips part 3

Part tri of my collection of best film clips is about to begin – PUMP IT UP!! Daft Punk – Da Funk A great clip from the genius that is the Punk. I suppose the dog is down on his luck with the broken leg and the wandering around alone. Amongst the awkward monotony he trudges through things look as if they [...]

Scott's collection of the best film clips part 2.

Part two of my collection of best film clips is about to begin – PUMP IT UP!! Chemical Brothers – Star Guitar The first time i saw this film clip, i wasn’t sure why but in the first 20 seconds i was so hypnotized by it. There was something going on that i could see consciously, something behind the foreground, something in [...]

How to make a Daft Punk Helmet in 17 months!

Are you nerdy enough?! This guy has re-created a Daft Punk style, helmet from scratch, complete with LEDs and crazy dark tinted visor. Is this Nerdy? Incredibly Nerdy. It is significant to the world and it’s beings? No, but still…it’s pretty sweet.

Scott's collection of the best film clips part 1.

This is a new blog idea, that is not so new and not such an idea…but still a lot of people don’t know about these great, short pieces of art, and i feel that they should get more recognition. Some of these will be based purely on the concept, some will be based on the visuals, but i feel to [...]

Little known facts about Sgt. Peppers Lonely Heart Club Band.

Little known facts about Sgt. Peppers Lonely Heart Club Band.

Think you know all there is to know about The Beatles and Sgt. Pepper? There is no really rhyme or reason behind this blog. I have missed the 40 year anniversary by 3 years, but listening via podcast to the stupidly hard trivia question given out on The Steve Merchant Show on 6 Music in the U.K, a question came up [...]

From the genius of photography.

From the genius of photography.

The Camera Obscura Direct from the Nerd files In the long long ago, there was a documentary, called the “Genius of Photography”. It was ultimately about the history of photography and it’s evolution throughout history, the main key “players/ rollers/ hip-hoppers/ be-boppers”. There was a segment on the first camera, called the Camera Obscura (Latin; “camera” is a “vaulted chamber/room” + “obscura” [...]

Stylish movie illustrations by Justin Reed.

Stylish movie illustrations by Justin Reed.

These movie illustrations by artist Justin Reed are really inspirational. Just skimming the surface of surreal art and caricatures. There are a few old favourites plus some recent additions. I’m a big fan of the Gangsters piece with Al Pacino, Bob Deniro, Joe Pesci and Ray Liotta. Steve Buscemi in the Reservoir Dogs piece is class. Check more of his [...]

Using many graphic design techniques, Dave produces photo’s that are so surreal and so detailed that they look like a rich lifelike painting. Good to see some people are conscious of the environment.

Good to see some people are conscious of the environment.

Artist Don Lucho created an entire apartment using cardboard and paper. The results? A very real looking home, with all the elements you would naturally find in a decorated crib, including paintings, rugs, cups, spoons and even slippers. The only weird thing is that they are all hand-drawn. I’m not sure if I think it’s kinda cool or kinda lame.

For those who have been living under a rock!

For those who have been living under a rock!

Microsoft are very soon going to launch another revolution in the gaming world, only a couple of years after the launch of the Nintendo Wii. The piece of technology in question is not a new console, but just a very smart camera. Project Natal is a pretty amazing bit of technology, whereby a camera captures the motion of the user and [...]

The amazing work of Pierre Michel.

The amazing work of Pierre Michel.

I should really not say anything about him or his works, but rather let them speak for themselves. Check out his work, they are incredible. A lot are solely done in After Effects, including many of the 3D type effects. Visit his site here My favourite is a short film he did for the 12th Annual French Film Festival entitled, Polar.

An absolutely incredible video.

An absolutely incredible video.

This is a FULL – CG animated short film, that is so amazingly done that most times you actually forget that what you’re saying is not real. It tries to illustrate architecture art across a photographic point of view where main subjects are already-built spaces. Sometimes in an abstract way. Sometimes surreal. Don’t forget that this is ALL Computer Generated! [...]
